Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Correct i ona l Educat i on Program (SCEP) or Educational Administrator designee, and  functional l ead of the Senior Librarian ( CF) or Librarian (CF) when applicable, the Library Technical Assistant (LTA) (Safety) wil l perform the f ollowing duties in accordance with the State Personnel Board classification specification with in the Inst itu tion's Legal or General Library collections. These duties may be performed in a lib rary that is staffed by a Senior librarian or Librarian, or the LTA may fac ilitate incarcerated persons access to libraries by performing these duties in a satellite library without cont i nuous active supervision  from an education administrator , a Senior Librarian or Librarian .

Working Conditions

This position is located at the California State Prison in Corcoran CA, which is accessibly located right off Highway 43. Conveniently located one hour from Lemoore Naval Air Station and Sequoias National Park. Two hours from Yosemite National Park and Pismo Beach.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by departmental annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter .

Knowledge of: Elementary principles of professional library work and use of standard library tools; classification and cataloging techniques employed in fiction materials and precataloging techniques employed in nonfiction materials; library practices and procedures; data processing and research techniques related to library work; and library materials, including governmental publications, pamphlets, newspapers, manuscripts, periodicals, films, and microfilms.
