Overview
Align Social Impact is seeking a part-time Social Media Strategist and Account Manager to support mission-driven clients across culture, philanthropy, advocacy, and impact. The Social Media Strategist will translate ideas and issue areas into social content and digital strategies that engage audiences, elevate storytelling, and advance impact narratives. The role focuses on strategy, narrative, cultural fluency, and light execution, with opportunities for collaboration across PR, research, and creative workstreams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Narrative:
    • Develop platform-appropriate social media strategies aligned to client goals and impact narratives as well as the firm's.
    • Define content pillars, audience maps, platform roles, and messaging frameworks.
    • Identify cultural and digital trends, conversation moments, and narrative opportunities relevant to impact work.
  • Content + Light Execution:
    • Draft captions, posts, and short-form social copy.
    • Build and maintain content calendars.
    • Develop graphical content using platforms like Canva.
    • Schedule/publish content across platforms.
    • Conduct social listening and audience research.
    • Support event or moment-based social activations.
    • Implement and manage paid spend and monitor over time.
  • Reporting + Insights:
    • Track social performance and synthesize insights into monthly reports for Align and its clients.
    • Monitor public conversation and narrative context surrounding client topics.
    • Surface recommendations to optimize reach, engagement, and narrative alignment.
  • Collaboration + Communication:
    • Participate in internal and client check-ins and strategy reviews.
    • Coordinate with PR, research, and creative teams to ensure integrated storytelling.
    • Manage timelines and workflows associated with social deliverables.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4–5+ years of experience in social media strategy, digital communications, or related roles.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills with fluency across platforms.
  • Experience working with nonprofits, foundations, social enterprises, impact leaders, cultural institutions, advocacy groups, or mission-driven brands.
  • Demonstrated competency in identifying cultural and digital trends, social moments, and narrative opportunities relevant to impact communications.
  • Experience with scheduling and analytics tools (e.g., Later, Sprout, Creator Studio).
  • Interest in social impact, culture, and narrative change.
  • Ability to manage timelines with minimal supervision.
  • Available to work EST hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

  • Multilingual or bilingual proficiency.
  • Basic visual or media literacy (e.g., photography, video capture/editing, Canva, CapCut, or Adobe tools).
  • Experience supporting event-based social content capture.
  • Knowledge of platform-specific creative best practices.


Engagement Details:

  • Contract Type: 1099 Independent Contractor.
  • Hours: ~15 hours/week (EST hours).
  • Compensation: $2,400/month.
  • Location: Hybrid (NYC + Remote).
  • Term: 6 months with potential extension.
