We are seeking a hands-on wastewater operator to help oversee our growing portfolio of water reuse installations throughout California, the western U.S., and Hawaii. The ideal candidate will be able to perform beginner-level treatment plant operation, maintenance, and basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing troubleshooting of onsite water reuse systems. Goals

  • Ensure Epic Cleantec water reuse and resource recovery installations are operated efficiently and in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements 
  • Elevate the Epic Cleantec brand by delivering exceptional customer service to clients, in turn helping secure additional business throughout the region 
  • Grow in the field of onsite reuse, gaining necessary skills, and knowledge to operate a wide range of system types 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in operating and maintaining multiple onsite water reuse systems under direction from senior operators 
  • Inspect machinery and maintain surveillance on operating conditions, gauges and meters to ensure continued efficient operations as well as detect and troubleshoot malfunctions
  • Record and track plant and equipment operational data, including meter and gauge readings, and observe a regular schedule for maintenance and upgrades to prevent system breakdowns
  • Assisting with maintaining and repairing plant equipment to excellent condition using a variety of both hand tools and power tools
  • Communicate with supervisors, coworkers, other employees and upper management regarding operations, plant conditions and other essential information
  • Collaborate with senior operations staff to determine the best practices, equipment upgrades and other operational aspects that ensure the highest standard of onsite reuse.
  • Perform on-call duties when assigned (including night and weekend availability)

Requirements

  • Minimum California State Water Resource Control Board Wastewater OIT (Operator in Training) or higher 
  • Knowledge of safety rules, regulations and work practices regarding water treatment plant chemicals and equipment.
  • Ability hand tools to make basic repairs and adjustments to pumps, motors and other equipment as needed
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges, meters and SCADA to make necessary adjustments
  • Ability to collect samples and perform routine laboratory tests
  • Ability to access and interpret SCADA and alarms remotely to facilitate plant operations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, suppliers, consultants and coworkers
  • Strong decision-making skills in order to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities and determine alternatives and appropriate actions.
  • Basic understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SCADA.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of conditions, including outdoors in various weather conditions; rotating shifts (including nights), weekends, holidays and in emergencies; and with and around hazardous chemicals and equipment.

Preferred

  • Prior maintenance experience
  • Basic knowledge of wastewater treatment principles
