General Job Description: This is technical library conservation work at the full performance level in the conservation, preservation and restoration of on-line digital exhibitions, library books and related printed matter including special collections, rare books, works of art, documents, photographs for library use. Employees in this class assess the condition, type and age of library books and related materials and determine the appropriate conservation technique.

The Requirements are as follows:

1. EDUCATION:

Completion of a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university with major course work in art, art history, art conservation, materials conservation, historic preservation, museum studies, photography or a related field.

AND

2. EXPERIENCE:

Two years of experience in restoration, conservation, preservation, or photography, which includes the digitization or preservation of books, cultural heritage items and/or bookbinding.

NOTE: Completion of a master's degree program in the above related areas may be substituted for one year of the above experience.
